Pine cones are one of nature’s natural wonders that can be used to make all sorts of interesting crafts. A simple pine cone can be transformed into just about anything that you can imagine. With a little creativity and some household supplies, you can create all sorts of fun decorations, toys and even pieces that serve a function in your home. Below are just a few suggestions for some crafting ideas that use pine cones as well as some simple instructions for completing the project.
Pine cone angel and turkey
A pine cone angel and a pine cone turkey both start with the basic pine cone shape as the body. For the angel, add wings made out of thin paper or feathers and a pipe cleaner halo. Leave the rest of the pine cone blank for a simple elegant look or add wiggle eyes and facial features for a more child-friendly look. Use this angel as a Christmas tree ornament, gift, or even a topper for your Christmas tree. To make the turkey, use construction paper cut-outs of feathers and arrange them at the back of the pine cone. For the turkey’s face use the same suggestions as for the angel face (you may want to include construction paper elements such as a beak and some legs). This fun turkey can serve as a place marker/name card holder or as a decoration to be displayed any time during the fall anywhere in your house.
