Do you enjoy spending time outdoors? Are you looking for some outdoor summer craft projects? Do you want to decorate your garden with some easy summer crafts? The good news is that there are many craft projects that you can do outdoors in the summer, providing the weather isn’t too hot for you, and if it is you can always do these projects in your garage.
Here are some great ideas for outdoor summer crafts.
Plaster Pals
• Materials
12 inch balloon
Plaster cloth cut into 6 inch strips
Scissors
Shallow pan of warm water
Bowl
Aluminum foil
Masking tape
Acrylic paints and brushes
Craft foam and stapler or foam tape
• Instructions
Inflate the balloon. Dip a plaster strip into the water and let the excess water drip off into the pan. Smooth the strip onto the balloon, keeping the knot uncovered. You want to repeat this process until the balloon is completely covered. After covering the balloon you are going to want to add a second layer of plaster strips
Set the balloon upright on a bowl and let the plaster harden (if you put it in a sunny spot it should only take about ½ an hour). Then holding the knot pop the balloon and remove it through the hole. Then cover the hole with plaster strips
Fold and shape plaster strips into the various features of your critter (beak for a duck, nose for a dog, etc). Then secure the strips in place with another wet strip
For arms, fins, or wings place wet strips together and smooth the surface to release the extra water. Place the extremities in the desired spot by placing an inch or so of the strips onto the balloon. When they are semi dry shape into the forms you want them to take (curled away from the body)
Using aluminum foil make feet or stands to place the body on and tape them into place
Using plaster strips cover the aluminum foil and tape completely. For smaller places cut the strips into smaller pieces before getting them wet
Once everything is completely dry use acrylic paints and paintbrushes to add color and other features.
