Rain, rain go away, come again some other day… Have you or your kids sung that gloomy song while watching the seemingly endless sheets of water pour out of the dark gray sky? We’ve all experienced one of these miserable days, and seem to have trouble finding a way to entertain ourselves. Coloring projects can make the rainiest of days a fun, educational day! You can’t make the rain go away, but, you can definitely add color to it!

Unlike video games, your kids won’t be frying their brains in front of a TV screen learning violence. You can also join your kids in the coloring, and make a work of art for yourself! Also, if there are older members of your family, they will enjoy coloring along with you. They will have a chance to be productive and share memories.

Try to use bright colors. They will remind you of the sun, and make the day a little brighter. Refrain from dark colors, for they will remind you of the dark presence of rain clouds precipitating outside.
When choosing a project, try to pick a project that reminds you and your kids of a happy time. You can pick their favorite cartoon character coloring books. It will make them happy to color their beloved heroes. It can also trigger memories of a vacation to a theme park or a zoo, and will make the day a little more colorful. Stay away from scary pictures or things that you and your kids don’t like. Don’t choose any projects that will make a mess, or cause unneeded stress. There are many magic markers and washable markers that have maximum coloring power. Check your local store, they will be packed with fun coloring projects.
Most of all, you should have fun. But, wouldn’t it be nice to have fun while learning something? Well, it is possible! There are many projects that will teach your young ones shapes, colors, letters, numbers, animals, and lots of other important life skills. They can be learning useful information even before beginning pre-school! Your kids will be having a blast while gaining a lot of knowledge. Some coloring books involve stories along each page, and your kid will be excited to color each page to learn a little more of the story. This will build their reading comprehension and give them intelligent vocabulary.
