Bandanna Wreath

Most people think of bandanas as something you wear on your head, or if you are a cowboy. However, bandanas can be used to create a number of fun craft projects. The following are a few of the things you can make with a bandana:

Bandana wreath: These wreathes are very cute and homey. They make great door hangers any time of year. You can make a Christmas themed one using Christmas print bandanas or red and green. You can make a summer one using summer colors. So, make a number of them to decorate your door all year round.

Here is what you'll need:

  • A bandana or two so that you can have two different colors, but if you use two, cut them in half.
  • Scissors
  • 4" metal ring
  • Accessories to decorate
  1. Start by cutting or tearing the bandana into strips. They should be approximately ¾ of an inch wide and 4 and ½ inches long. This is the best width for optimal aesthetic appeal.
  2. Now take these strips of bandana and tie and knot them around the 4 inch metal wring. For a thicker wreath, use extra bandana strips.
  3. Once all the strips are tied on, you can use beads, charms, and other things to decorate the wreath further. Then, hang it on your door and enjoy.

Yarn Angels

These would look delightful decorating a small holiday tree. Keep in mind this project does require adult supervision.

You will need:

  • Flat Slotted Clothespin

  • Two Wooden Kitchen Matches

  • Fine white yarn

  • Gold Paint

  • Gold Cord

  • Scissors

  • Craft Knife

  • Fine Point Marker

  • Tacky Glue or Low Temp Glue Gun

  • Angel Wings (out of foam or wood cutouts)

Instruction for the project: Carefully cut the heads off two kitchen matches with a craft knife. Using a glue gun, attach one to each side of the clothespin for arms. Use a tiny bit of glue to attach the yarn, to the back "neck" of the doll. Wrap yarn snugly around the neck, and down over the top of the match sticks for shoulders. Continue wrapping under the matchsticks and down to the "ankles". Trim the yarn, and secure with a tiny bit of glue to the back of the doll. Wrap both arms in white yarn, from the shoulders to the "wrists" in the same manner. Wrap gold cord around waist, and secure with a dab of glue at the back of the doll. Attach the wings to the back of the angel. Add hair and use a marker to add a face to your yarn angel.
