Horse Shoes
This is a game played in a sand pit. You have two posts, made of metal on each side of the sand pit, and you toss horse shoes at them while standing at the opposite side of the pit. The goal is to get the post inside the horseshoe, but you can score points for being close to the post as well. The way the scoring works is you get five points for a "Ringer" which is when you get the post, and it is inside the shoe. You get three points if your horseshoe is touching the post, but not around it. You get one point if you are at least the width of the horseshoe ends away from the post. Generally you play where each person gets a set number of tosses, and whoever has the most points at the end of the round wins the round. You can play best out of three or best out of five. Traditional horseshoe games use metal horseshoes. However, there are more kid friendly versions made of weighted plastic.
Golfing Dad's Memo Board
If your Dad especially loves golf then this is a gift you can make especially for him.
What you will need:
- Jumbo Craft Sticks
- Cork
- Magnetic Strips
- Tacky Glue
- Mini Golf Club
- Paint and Brush
- Scissors
Instructions for the project: Start by gluing the corners of four jumbo craft sticks together. Paint the entire structure and let dry completely. Carefully cut out two 6" squares of cork. You will want to glue them together to make it twice as thick. When the glue is completely dry then you will glue the craft stick frame to the top of the cork. Lay a heavy book (or other object) on top until completely dry. Note: Using a hot glue gun will help the project go much faster. You can then use your computer to print out DAD'S TO-DO LIST and I'D RATHER BE GOLFING. Cut these sentences out and glue to frame. Glue on golf club. Cut a strip of magnet for the back, peel and stick.
