String Easter Egg

Springtime is a great time of year to get outside and enjoy nature and all the new life that is growing up from the earth. You can make some fun springtime crafts to go along with this time of year. How about making a kite to fly on a windy day or making some Easter eggs to decorate your house? Here are a few ideas for some fun springtime crafts.

String Easter Eggs

A fun springtime craft for kids is to have them make string Easter eggs. Buy some balloons and blow them up, then cut out about 30 pieces of string to be 6 inches (or the width of the balloon). Dip the pieces of string in Elmer’s glue and wrap them around the balloon individually. You should have a balloon covered in string from all different directions. You will then place the balloon on some non stick paper and allow it to dry for several hours. After the glue is dried, pop the balloon and you have yourself a colorful Easter egg. Leaving a small hole on one side is a good idea so you can put candy inside the balloon or let your kids cut out a rabbit or duck to put inside.

Tulip Cup

Another fun springtime craft is to make a tulip cup. Since flowers are often associated with springtime, this is a great way to bring the colors of the outdoor world into your home. To make the tulip cup you will need construction paper, crayons or markets, craft stick or pencil and a Styrofoam cup. Then follow these simple directions for making a tulip cup:

•Use crayons or markers to color the Styrofoam cup. This will be the tulip's pot. If you are using a craft stick, color it green. This will be the tulip's stem.
•Cut a slit or hole in the bottom of the Styrofoam cup large enough to slide the stem through.
•Draw and cut out a tulip shape from construction paper. Make sure the tulip is small enough to fit completely inside the Styrofoam cup.
•Glue the tulip to the top of its stem.
•Slide the bottom of the stem through the hole in the cup from the inside and out through the bottom. Your tulip is now hiding inside its pot, waiting to grow.
•To make your tulip grow: Hold the cup with one hand and use the other hand to slowly slide the stem up, making your tulip bloom.
•To display the flower, turn the cup upside down and slide the stem back down through the hole.

As you may be aware springtime is a wonderful time to break out the Easter eggs, Easter bunny and pastel colors. Let your imagination run wild and come up with some fun springtime crafts.
