Solar System From Household Objects

Making a three dimensional solar system mobile

If you have a little more confidence in your craft making abilities you may want to try making a three dimensional solar system mobile. The concepts between this one and the paper one in the example above are the same. You will need different sized spheres to represent the relative sizes of the planets and the sun. You can use styrofoam balls, old tennis and other sports balls, Paper Mache balls, etc. If it is round and you can secure it to your mobile, it will probably work. Be creative with the spheres you use. You may want to paint them, add texture to them, etc. Attach the balls to a sturdy hanger, curtain rod, etc. and you have your three dimensional solar system mobile.
