Xylophone
To make a xylophone you will need several tall glasses or jars, some water, and a mixing spoon. To make the different notes in the xylophone, fill the glasses or jars with different amounts of water. The more water there is in the glass, the lower the pitch will be. Conversely the less water there is in the glass or jar the higher the pitch will be. To play, gently strike the glasses with a mixing spoon. This craft is better suited for older children who have more develop motor skills and who will not tap the glasses so hard that the glass breaks or injure themselves in the case that there is a glass that falls.
So you see, there are plenty of different ways to make creative musical instruments out of materials that you will likely already have in your home. With a few helpful ideas you could even come up with enough instruments to create a creative musical instrument craft band!
Easter Bingo
Making and then playing on your own Easter bingo board is both easy and fun. A bingo board is nothing more than a piece of paper separated into boxes and arranged in a 5X5 table. Inside of the squares you can draw pictures or write words that remind you of Easter. To play, all that you do is make sure that you have a card that has a similar picture or description as each of the squares on your bingo board. Have one person be in charge of drawing out the cards and calling out what is on them. All the other players can use markers (candy, paper, crayons, etc.) to mark which of their squares have been called. The first one to have a complete row filled is the winner!
Box of Love
To make a box of love all that you need is a small box (a jewelry box is usually a good size; you can usually buy these boxes from the jewelry store relatively inexpensively). Decorate your little box any way that you wish. When you are done decorating the box, blow lots of kisses into it. Wrap up the box and make sure to include a card that explains the valuable contents that are inside this gift box. This sweet craft is sure to fill your home and the hearts of those you give this gift to with the spirit of holiday cheer.
Let your kids brainstorm ideas for more crafts that they think they can make and that others will enjoy. Foster creativity by helping them find the materials around the house that they will need. By making their own Christmas craft gifts, your children will more fully appreciate the joy of giving to others.
