Yarn Angels

These would look delightful decorating a small holiday tree. Keep in mind this project does require adult supervision.

You will need:

  • Flat Slotted Clothespin

  • Two Wooden Kitchen Matches

  • Fine white yarn

  • Gold Paint

  • Gold Cord

  • Scissors

  • Craft Knife

  • Fine Point Marker

  • Tacky Glue or Low Temp Glue Gun

  • Angel Wings (out of foam or wood cutouts)

Instruction for the project: Carefully cut the heads off two kitchen matches with a craft knife. Using a glue gun, attach one to each side of the clothespin for arms. Use a tiny bit of glue to attach the yarn, to the back "neck" of the doll. Wrap yarn snugly around the neck, and down over the top of the match sticks for shoulders. Continue wrapping under the matchsticks and down to the "ankles". Trim the yarn, and secure with a tiny bit of glue to the back of the doll. Wrap both arms in white yarn, from the shoulders to the "wrists" in the same manner. Wrap gold cord around waist, and secure with a dab of glue at the back of the doll. Attach the wings to the back of the angel. Add hair and use a marker to add a face to your yarn angel.

Friendship Pen

This can be a great gift for kids to give to their friends. This craft works best for kids ages 8 and up.

You will need:

  • Ball Point Pen

  • Multi-Color Yarn

  • Tacky Glue or Low Temp Glue Gun

  • Pony Beads

  • Alphabet Beads

Instructions for the project: Place a very thin bead of glue near the tip of the pen, and up about 1" on to the barrel, (try to use as little glue as possible). Starting near the tip, carefully wrap the yarn tightly around pen, without leaving any gaps. You can add more glue as you go. Keep in mind that you can change yarn colors, but it is much easier to use multicolor yarn. When you reach the end, trim the yarn, and secure with a little dab of glue. Cut three 12" pieces of yarn, and knot the three pieces together near one end. You can now braid them and end with another knot. Glue on the end of the pen and add additional braids if desired. You can also add pony beads or alphabet beads, for further decoration.
